According to Eagles Insider, the Philadelphia Eagles have released DE Jason Babin. Babin has 5.5 sacks this year and finished last season with 18. There are plenty of teams out there that can use a quality pass rusher, it will be interesting to see who brings him on.

According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, Jason Kidd will sign a mutli-year contract with the New York Knicks. With Jeremy Lin visiting and getting an offer from the Houston Rockets, the Knicks felt compelled to make a move. They landed a veteran with championship experience that can hopefully figure how to play with Carmelo Anthony, Amar’e Stoudemire, and Tyson Chandler.

The New York Yankees lose a second starting pitcher today after Andy Pettitte took a foul ball off his ankle in a game today. Pettitte’s left ankle is fractured and he will be out at least 6 weeks, joining CC Sabathia on the DL. The Yankees have been snakebitten with injuries this season, especially to their pitching staff.

Yankees starting pitcher, CC Sabathia, is on the 15-day DL with an Adductor Strain. Injury woes continue to plague the Pinstripes.

The San Francisco 49ers have agreed on a 1-year contract with WR, Randy Moss. This gives the Niners and quarterback, Alex Smith, a deep threat they sorely missed in the NFC title game. Moss is known to be a problem in the locker room, but with no-nonsense Coach Jim Harbaugh, this relationship can prove to be the difference between NFC runner-ups and Super Bowl Champions.

According to the Denver Post, Peyton Manning has declined visits to the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks. This leaves Manning to choose between the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, and Arizona Cardinals as his new on-field home. A decision is expected to be made sooner rather than later and speculation suggests that the Broncos are currently the front runners.

Enigmatic wide receiver, Randy Moss, continues his quest to end is one-year retirement and will travel to San Francisco on Monday to work out for the NFC West Champs. If there is one team out there who can contain Moss’s sometimes cancerous behavior and use his inhumanly, freakish skill to their advantage, it’s the 49ers with the reigning Coach of the Year in Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh runs a tight ship and everyone understands the team is his- just what Moss needs; a clear leader and someone to keep him in place.

The Atlanta Falcons have signed former Seahawks LB and 3-time Pro Bowler Lofa Tatupu to a deal. He did not play all of last season.

Ndamukong Suh has been suspended for two games for stomping on Green Bay’s Evan Dietrich-Smith on Thanksgiving Day that resulted in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and an ejection from the game. The 1st game Suh will miss will be against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night. He will be sorely missed. It’s time for Suh to clean up his act.

The landscape of the MLB playoffs is set to change forever. According to MLB commissioner, Bud Selig, owners approved 2 more wild-card teams for the postseason. The change will reportedly take place perhaps as soon as 2012.
