Image

According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, Jason Kidd will sign a mutli-year contract with the New York Knicks. With Jeremy Lin visiting and getting an offer from the Houston Rockets, the Knicks felt compelled to make a move. They landed a veteran with championship experience that can hopefully figure how to play with Carmelo Anthony, Amar’e Stoudemire, and Tyson Chandler.

NBA Players Reject Latest Offer, Move to Disband Union

NBA players have rejected the recent offer proposed by the owners. The NBA players’ next step is to begin the process of disbanding their union. NBA players are taking the same route  the NFL players took during their negotiations, but it doesn’t seem as hopeful for the NBA that a deal will get done anytime soon, as it did for the NFL. Only time will tell. This story is much less impactful as long as the NFL season is still going on. If there’s no NBA season post-Super Bowl, then this may become a bigger issue to most sports fans.

The Playoffs are Coming Home to MSG Tonight

I’ve been unbelievably busy lately and it’s been really hard to do what I love and that’s discuss sports right here on The Sport Scholar but today I decided I HAVE to make some time to post something about the New York Knicks – Boston Celtics game 3 tonight from Madison Square Garden. There hasn’t been a playoff game in MSG since 2004 and the Knicks haven’t won a playoff game since 2001. This series has been unbelievable so far and unfortunately due to poor management and coaching, the 2-0 series lead the Celtics hold doesn’t represent how close this series really has been. The unbelievable guts and heart that the Knicks, especially Carmelo Anthony, showed in game 2 is something most Knicks’ fans won’t forget for a long time. I decided to post Carmelo’s intro video from is his first game as a Knick because tonight the playoffs come home to MSG and the Knicks NEED another monster night from ‘Melo (times that by 1000 if Amar’e and Chauncey can’t go tonight).

Wordless Wednesday – NCAA Final Four

This week’s Wordless Wednesday post is dedicated to the unlikely, yet awesome NCAA Final Four taking place this weekend. I really hope I can free up my busy schedule before the weekend because I would love to write more about this but until then, best of luck to (3) UCONN, (4) Kentucky, (8) Butler and (11) VCU. Not many picked any of you to make it this far and you all did. Again, congratulations and best of luck!
